Washington County 9/11 Day of Service
In commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, and in support of the National Day of Service, the communities of Washington County are coming together to organize community service projects on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 7:00am-9:00am.
Residents of all ages living in Washington County are invited to participate. The projects consist primarily of neighborhood beautification and clean-up efforts throughout Washington County, in preparation for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship event, being held the following week. You can also check JustServe.org for projects you can do at home as well as other available community projects looking for volunteer help.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and wear gloves where needed. Please wear bright colored clothing and have plenty of personal water on hand.
You can use the hashtags — #911day or #911utahdayofservice when posting photos or content about the projects and service you are rendering. We invite you to come out and participate in the largest community service project ever held in Southern Utah.

How to ROCK Water Conservation!
Washington County Water Conservancy District
Washington County can save more than 400 million gallons of water if homeowners simply dial back their landscape irrigation in September one day per week.
Really. It’s that simple.
Each day homeowners skip irrigating saves an average of 1,500 gallons of water. And, with cooler night-time temperatures, landscapes adapt well to a little less water.
Join in the savings. Head to your garage and dial back the irrigation clock.
Clock on, Washington County!
Help for the Veterans
Southern Utah Veterans Home
The Southern Utah Veterans Home is thankful for the opportunity to care for our Veterans and for the excellent support provided by the Santa Clara Community. Like many local businesses, the Veterans Home is currently experiencing a shortage of qualified staff. The positions of greatest concern are: Housekeepers, Laundry Aides, Dishwashers, Assistant Cooks, Nursing Assistants (CNA), and Nurses. The Veterans Home is seeking to hire temporary, part-time, or full-time employees for all of these positions. Of course we would love to have long lasting staff work here, but we would happily welcome job applicants who could work temporarily during this shortage. Dishwashers may be as young as 17 years old, all other positions must be at least 18. Interested individuals should contact the Veterans Home directly at 435-634-5220.
Free Water Checks
Washington County Water Conservancy District
The Washington County Water Conservancy District offers free water system checks between May 15-Sept 30. The water check gives you a customized irrigation schedule, identifies soil type and suggests ways to efficiently water your landscape, often resulting in an average of 30% water savings. The program helps you to have an attractive landscape while conserving water. To request a free water check appointment, call 673-3617 or visit: wcwcd.org/conservation/programs for more information.
Southern Utah Adopt a Waterway Program

Santa Clara City has joined the above program to enhance and beautify the Santa Clara River/Tuacahn Wash areas within our city limits. We are looking for volunteer groups to adopt a section of river within our City. Visit our website for further information on Southern Utah Adopt A Waterway.
