Meet Your Election Candidates

LOGAN BLAKE

LOGAN BLAKE

City Council Candidate

Being born and raised in Santa Clara I’ve been able to see it change over the years. I miss many things about the Santa Clara of my youth, but many new things have come along that I enjoy. After attending the local grade schools, I attended Dixie College and SUU, where I received an education to become a Civil Engineer. I worked for several years for a local soils engineering company and learned about the many difficulties with soils in Santa Clara. For the last few years I’ve work for a family owned development company designing residential subdivisions and commercial sites. Through the process I’ve gained knowledge and an interest in how cities work, and how growth affects people. This interest has created my desire to run for City Council. I believe that growth should be guided in our city so that we don’t harm the charm of Santa Clara. I believe that Santa Clara Drive needs to be protected so it maintains its small town feel and walkability, as growth on old highway 91 in Ivins increases. I believe that citizens of Santa Clara should have better access to public meeting agenda items as other cities provide.

DENNY DRAKE

DENNY DRAKE

City Council Candidate

My name is Denny Drake and I am a lifelong resident of Washington County. I moved to Santa Clara in 1977 with small children and chose to raise my family in this community, forty-two years later, three of my four children live here and 12 of my grandchildren are growing up in this beautiful community.

I have always been involved in community service from coaching Little League to previous service on the Santa Clara Planning Commission, the Santa Clara City Council, serving as Mayor of Santa Clara, as well as serving all of Washington County as a County Commissioner. I have had the opportunity to serve on local, state and national committees. I believe wise planning is smart planning and benefits residents and future residents.

I accepted a called to serve in Houston Texas for three years and have enjoyed being back home for the past two years. I know and understand the issues that we face as one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. I know and understand the needs of all residents, having raised my family here, having been an area business owner and now choosing to retire here. I look forward to continuing to serve in this great place we call home and I have the time and experience to deal with the issues at hand.

RYAN ANDERSON

RYAN ANDERSON

City Council Candidate

I am a Fifth Generation resident of Santa Clara who is raising my family in the town I love. My wife, Sara Anderson, and I enjoy raising our 4 children in this safe, family-oriented town of Santa Clara, Utah. I have been a small business owner in Santa Clara for over 20 years. I have spent many rewarding hours volunteering here along with our neighbors and also to help other neighbors. I love this community and my neighbors. I am proud to be from Santa Clara and am grateful that I am able to continue living here and raise my family here with the same values and lifestyle I grew up with.

I would like to continue serving my community and neighbors in a more direct capacity - as your City Councilor. I will work to keep Santa Clara the most special place to live and work in Southern Utah. I intend to support policies that will provide a positive environment in which small businesses can thrive, while maintaining a safe community where parents will continue to feel confident in raising their young families

Santa Clara is a community rich in history with a strong agricultural past. Growing up in a family who has relied on the agricultural richness of Santa Clara, I know I can honor our agricultural heritage and history. Having worked alongside my parents and grandparents in orchards and fields has taught me to respect the land and those who work it. As a father who hopes my children have the opportunity to continue living in Santa Clara as well, I will work to ensure we find a way to provide a future here for our younger generations as well. Protecting our Past - Forging the Future!

GARY ALLRED

GARY ALLRED

City Council Candidate

I am a fourteen year resident of Santa Clara and owner of A-Team Computer Services.

Recent decisions indicate the voice of residents is disregarded in favor of monetary gain.

I believe growth is inevitable, but should be managed in a conservative and controlled manner which preserves our quality of life, small-town character, and open spaces.

I believe that on a national and local level, government for and by the people is becoming a forgotten concept.

I promise to revive that concept and represent the voice of the people.

If you share my views, I ask for your vote in August and November.

I welcome your questions and comments. garysallred@gmail.com

JARETT WAITE

JARETT WAITE

City Council Re-elect

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Santa Clara City Council the last four years, and truly feel I have made a positive difference in our community. I completed my campaign pledge to improve the city’s social media presence, and have assisted the city with various technology issues. I have helped citizens with their traffic concerns, the condition of their roads, and the impacts of development near them. Right now I’m coordinating the funding and construction of the Santa Clara BMX track in Canyon View Park.

I currently serve as the liaison with the city Public Services Department and chair the Southwest Mosquito Abatement District Board. I’m also on the St. George Chamber of Commerce board of directors and serve as President of the Chamber Ambassadors.

I hold conservative values and have a well-balanced approach to issues. I’m concerned about future energy costs and sources in Santa Clara, potential tax and fee increases, and how our community will be shaped as the last few parcels are developed in the city.

I graduated from Brigham Young University in 2005 with a degree in business management and run a small business. My wife and I are the parents of five wonderful children.
