PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that Santa Clara City will hold a Municipal Election on November 5, 2019 for the following offices:

 3 City Council Positions

(4-Year Term)

Candidates

Ryan Graff Anderson

Logan Blake

Leina Mathis

Jarett Waite

Dennis (Denny) Drake

The constitutional and statutory qualifications to vote in this election are:

  1. Be a United States citizen.
  2. Be a resident of Utah for at least 30 days immediately before the election.
  3. Be at least 18 years of age on the day of the election.
  4. Be a resident of the voting district in the municipality in which you desire to vote.
  5. If a person is involuntarily confined or incarcerated in a jail or prison, or other such facility, the voting precinct in which the person must be registered is the voting precinct in which the person resided before confinement or incarceration.
  6. A person who has been convicted of a felony who’s right to vote has not been restored as provided by law may not register to vote while incarcerated.

SANTA CLARA CITY USES THE VOTE BY MAIL METHOD as the primary means of casting ballots for all elections. The Drop Box for Santa Clara City is located at the Santa Clara Library and ballots may be dropped off there.   

Things to remember:

  1. Any Ballots not mailed by the week prior to election day should be dropped off at the Drop Box Location or will not be counted until after election day.
  2. Remember to sign your Envelope, or it will not be counted. You will get a letter from the County informing you. Signatures must be verified.
  3. ONLY Vote for 3 Candidates, if you vote for more, your ballot is disqualified.

The Santa Clara Polling Location is:

DISTRICTS 1, 2, 3, & 4 are at the Santa Clara City Office located at 2603 Santa Clara Drive.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Santa Clara 2019 Election Information

SANTA CLARA CITY
2019 ELECTION INFORMATION

MUNICIPAL ELECTION: The Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
A Primary Election (if necessary) will be held on Tuesday August 13, 2019.

VACANCIES IN OFFICE TO BE FILLED: Vacancies in office to be filled are as follows:

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CANDIDATE:

1. Be a United States citizen at time of filing.
2. Be a registered voter of the municipality.
3. Be a resident of the municipality for a period of 365
consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election.
4. Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this State until the right to vote or hold elective office has been restored.
5. Must file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder within the filing deadline. Any resident of the municipality may file a Nomination Petition within the filing deadline, to nominate a person to become a candidate for municipal office. During this filing, they must state whether they meet all the constitutional and statutory qualification requirements for municipal office.

TO FILE FOR OFFICE: Each person seeking to become a candidate for a municipal office shall file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder during regular office hours, filing period begins, June 3, 2019 and ends June 7, 2019.

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES: To become a valid write-in candidate, a person must file, in person, a Declaration of Candidacy form with the appropriate filing officer on or before September 6, 2019. The candidate must also qualify all the requirements of the office.

FILING DEADLINE: Candidates: Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
Write-in Candidates: Friday, September 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

TO NOMINATE A PERSON FOR OFFICE: Obtain from the City Recorder’s Office a Nominating Petition form. Fill out the form in its entirety, obtain the necessary signatures as outlined on the form, and submit to the City Recorder prior to the deadline of June 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

CAMPAIGN FINANCIAL REPORTS: Municipal Office Candidates are required to file campaign financial reports with the City Recorder seven (7) days before the Municipal Election and thirty (30) days after the Primary and/or Municipal Election. These reports must be posted by the City Recorder on either the city website at sccity.com or the state website at www.disclosures.utah.gov.

Regular Meetings

–  2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m.  with the exception of the         Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.

 

 Regular Work Meeting

– 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. with the exception of the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.

 

Planning & Zoning Commission/Land Use Authority:

– 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

 

Heritage Commission:

 –  2nd Thursday at 4:00 p.m. – Quarterly: January, April, July & December

 

Economic Development Commission:

  • 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm.

 

City Council may call Special Meetings When needed.

 

Agendas of all City meetings, both regularly scheduled and special or work meetings, are sent to the Spectrum and posted at the Santa Clara Town Hall, the Santa Clara Post Office and on the Public Notice Website at http://pmn.utah.gov at least 24 hours prior to the meeting time.

 

All meetings are held in the Santa Clara Town Hall, 2603 Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, Utah unless otherwise noticed on the meeting agenda.

 

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations, including auxiliary communicative aids and services, during any of these meetings, should notify the City Recorder Chris Shelley at 673-6712 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.
