Rick Rosenberg

Current Mayor
Re-elect for Mayor

Rick and his wife Terri moved to Santa Clara in 1989 and raised their four children in their Lava Flow Drive neighborhood.  He graduated from Utah State University in 1984 with a BS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and is the founder of Rosenberg Associates, a full-service civil engineering and land surveying firm headquartered in St. George.  Rick has been actively involved in public service for over 22 years in Santa Clara, currently serving his eleventh year as Mayor, following five years on the City Council and six years as a Planning Commissioner.  He has been recognized for his service and achievements in civil engineering and public works project design throughout Washington County.  Rick understands the value and costs associated with providing critical services and infrastructure for residents within the community.  His leadership was critical during the community’s recovery following the federally declared Santa Clara River floods in 2005, 2010 and again in 2012 following the Laub Pond Detention Basin failure and flood.  A native son of pioneer stock from Southern Utah, he is a strong supporter of the community’s heritage and the annual Swiss Days celebration.  Rick and Terri remain heavily involved in community service and are especially proud to call Santa Clara home.  He is also an avid fly fisherman and enjoys trips to Alaska, Lake Powell and other destinations with his family and friends whenever time permits.

Important Issues

  • Retain the treasured Santa Clara image when considering land use applications
  • Improve recreation opportunities in each neighborhood
  • Continue to pursue public transit options that includes Santa Clara
  • Keep avenues of communication open and available to all

After four years serving the community, I am ready to continue providing expertise and a balanced view on the city council. Service as a part of the Santa Clara City Council and staff has resulted in improved streets, expanded recreation facilities, and modern public safety facilities. Even more importantly, I see families benefit from well-managed local initiatives that stay within budget and do not unduly burden hard-working residents.

My wife Barbara and I have raised eight children in Santa Clara, and now enjoy 15 grandchildren.

I look forward to continuing serving and appreciate your vote.

Christopher Barela

Candidate for City Council

I moved to Southern Utah in 2002 from Scottsdale Arizona, and then to Santa Clara in 2008. I have served the citizens of Santa Clara in both paid and volunteer positions since 2006.

I joined the Santa Clara Fire Department as a volunteer in 2006, and I have continued to serve since that time. I also served in the capacity of Animal Control Officer for 8 years. During the time that I have worked with the community and lived here, I have developed a deep love and admiration for everything that is Santa Clara.  Our wonderful community has a way of pulling together during disasters.

My vision has three key points.

1) Preservation
2) Growth
3) Consideration
